Easter is less than two weeks away, and American Christians have fallen out of a regular practice that used to accompany this annual celebration.
We just don’t invite people to church anymore.
You’re probably thinking, “We’ll, there’s a reason for that… they won’t come.“
But according to the most recent research, that’s just not true.
Ed Stetzer quoted some of the most recent research and offered these two statistics:
- Sixty-seven percent of Americans say a personal invitation from a family member would be very or somewhat effective in getting them to visit a church.
- Sixty-three percent of Americans say a personal invitation from a friend or neighbor would be very or somewhat effective in getting them to visit a church.

If that’s the case, then the countdown is on! You’ve got less than a couple weeks to 1) identify who you’d like to invite, 2) begin to pray that God would give you the opportunity to ask as He gives them a receptive heart, and 3) make the ask!
Let me challenge you, churches everywhere are preparing for that weekend by sprucing up the buildings, making sure weekend services are top-notch, and praying for God to really move.
You can do your part by asking your friend or family member to come to church with you on Easter, and maybe invite them to lunch afterwards.
The truth is there’s only one certainty: they won’t come with you if you don’t ask.
