Give

Charitable giving opportunities are everywhere. You may think CrossPoint Church is just another charitable organization. But our giving isn’t about charity, it’s about worship. God’s not after your money, he’s after your heart...and where your money goes, your heart goes also.

The Bible instructs us to give regularly and sacrificially in response to God’s generous gift to us of His Son, Jesus Christ. What an appropriate response of worship.

“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce.” Proverbs 3:5

We don’t give because God is needy. We give because we are needy. Our hearts are constantly in need of being reminded that God has given us everything we have, and that he can be trusted to give us everything we need. The church is His plan to reconcile the world to Himself through Jesus Christ. We give, therefore, to advance the gospel through the local church.

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.” Malachi 3:10

The word “tithe” means one tenth. So when you tithe, you give one tenth or 10% of your earnings. Tithing (10%) is the starting point of giving. Offerings are gifts given above the tithe. God has blessed some people financially who are able to give substantially more than 10% and still live comfortably.
The Lord requires us to be faithful regardless of how much He has entrusted to us. Luke 16:10 says “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” It is when we are having financial struggles that we can’t afford not to tithe. God wants us to trust Him in everything, including our finances. God asks us to tithe because through that, we become unselfish people and we show that we trust God to provide for our needs. As we grow in our relationship with Christ, it always requires faith. Trust God by giving to Him even when it seems impossible and allow Him to show you His provision for your life.
